The third time was a charm for prosecutors in Montgomery County after a Silver Spring man was convicted of the vicious assault of his landlord over rent. Geofrey Gaitan, 31, was found guilty of second-degree attempted murder this week after two previous trials resulted in hung juries in connection to the near-fatal attack of Nicholas Miranda in April 2020. Repeat Offender Gets Prison Time For Drug, Weapon Offenses Near Northeast DC High School: Feds
A District man has will serve more time behind bars after the repeat offender was sentenced for drug and weapon offenses near a Northeast DC high school. DeAngelo Wayne McNeil, 37, was sentenced to three years in prison for unlawfully possessing a firearm and, while near a school, possessing cocaine base with the intent to sell it, federal authorities announced. Two teens are wanted by the Anne Arundel Police Department for a hate crime after allegedly vandalizing a statue, officials say. An investigation has been launched into the destruction of property at Saint Albans Episcopal Church in Glen Burnie late on Sunday afternoon. Police say that at around 6 p.m. on April 21, a teen boy and girl broke a piece of concrete off a flower bed at the church, then used it to damage a memorial plaque that was in the garden on the property. Three people were injured during a midday shooting in Northeast DC, police say. The Metropolitan Police Department issued a BOLO for a dark-colored sedan shortly before 1 p.m. on Friday, April 19 following the triple shooting in the 1200 block of Mt. Oliver Road NE.
