McArdle is the first recipient of the award to come from New York. McArdle’s speech at the AAPG annual convention and exhibition in Houston has since been posted to YouTube.  Coming full circle, McArdle started out by taking a geology course in high school, Newburgh Free Academy, and has since become an award-winning geoscience instructor herself. In her acceptance speech, McArdle credited those who mentored and supported her throughout her professional career. McArdle also provides a description of the dual-enrollment college physical geology course that is one of only 11 of its kind offered in the United States.
