In response to Mr. Forbes’s letter, two entire paragraphs under Overcrowding/Immigration Reform, there since Day 1, were left out of EVEN Ms. Greece’s SECOND letter. She herself admits she left out 13 words from the one paragraph she quoted…it changes the entire meaning, so yes, I was misquoted. What she did quote, those exact words are still there. The content is exactly the same with the addition, not subtraction of words that don't change the meaning in any way. So yes Jay, I can update my website as I see fit.
The Sanctuary County Act Ms. Borgia drafted insinuates that Westchester County Police, and other agencies are "targeting" illegal immigrants and therefore need to be policed by the Board of Legislators. In reality, they have been following an executive order from back in the Spano days. Westchester County Police are one of the most community friendly and culturally sensitive police agencies by far. How about a little credit for the law enforcement that work compassionately with the community every day, instead of asserting they have to be “policed” themselves. If they have been violating this order, Mr. Forbes, where are the reports? Where are the complaints? They would be all over the headlines if they existed. If you, or Ms. Borgia, have them…state your facts.
There is no reason to impose additional unnecessary “restraints” on WCPD and everyone this ACT applied to. It prevents communication with Homeland Security, a dangerous practice that sends a message. “If you break the law in Westchester County, you get a pass”.
This is a Sanctuary County Act. Your opinion, and Ms. Borgia’s opinion don’t matter, because the Federal Government says it is. It protects violent criminals, like the man who was deported 4 times and on his 5th visit stabbed a former coworker of mine, a WCPD Police Officer.
Do you think we should be protecting that? That’s what it would do. Catherine Borgia’s Sanctuary County Act is not only unnecessary it’s dangerous… and when it was vetoed, she called the County Executive a Nazi. Catherine Borgia good for Westchester? I don’t think so.
