Knife-Wielding Area College Student Chases, Threatens Roommate, Police Say

An area college student was arrested after chasing his roommate with a knife and threatening to kill him, according to police.

Josiah Diaz-Cregan, a freshman at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut, was arrested Monday after Hamden Police responded to a report of threatening on campus, said Hamden PD Capt. Ronald Smith.

An investigation revealed that the 18-year-old student had a verbal dispute with his roommate, Diaz-Cregan, Smith said.

The dispute escalated when Diaz-Cregan chased his roommate with a knife while threatening to kill him. 

With the assistance of Quinnipiac University Public Safety, Hamden Police arrested Diaz-Cregan, a resident of Meriden, Connecticut, and transported him to police headquarters.

He was charged with reckless endangerment, threatening and disorderly conduct. He was released after posting a $500 bond. 

Diaz-Cregan is scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 17.
