Sylvia Ann Zavarella, 85, Former Ossining Resident

LAFAYETTE, Colo. - Sylvia Ann Zavarella, of Lafayette, formerly of Ossining, N.Y., died July 9. She was 85.

Zavarella was born Nov. 1, 1927, in Ossining, N.Y., to Ellen and Silvio DiDonato. She and her husband owned and operated the “Ossining Meateria” until 1984 when the store closed.

Zavarella is survived by her daughters, Carol Ann (Anthony) Vasta, Lisa (Timothy) DeBoy; sisters, Lee (Dick) Clarke and Terry (Charles) DiGiacomo; five grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; husband, Louis Zavarella; and brother, James Campobasso.

A Celebration of Zavarella’s life will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 26 at St. Augustine’s Church, 381 N. Highland Ave., Ossining. Interment in St. Augustine’s Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the SPCA of Westchester County, Westchester Community College Foundation or the charity of your choice.
