Laurie Stone, Longtime Ossining Resident, 81

OSSINING, N.Y. -- Laurie Stone, a longtime resident of Ossining, died Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2015, at Bethel Nursing Home in Croton. She was 81.

Stone was born in Annapolis, Maryland, on July 10, 1933, and was the daughter of Capt. Hamilton Laurie Stone, USN, and Dorothy Drake Ward Stone.

Stone was a graduate of Ossining High School's Class of 1951. Upon graduation, she worked for Reader's Digest and then RCA Record Club/Sony BMG Entertainment for 31 years, where she retired as a production administrator.

Stone took great pride and interest in her family ancestry, being a direct descendent of Sir Francis Drake and Alexander Hamilton. She was also very active in her Townsend family heritage of Raynham Hall in England and Oyster Bay, New York. 

She was a longtime member of the Ossining Historical Society, the Westchester County Historical Society and the Townsend Society of America.

Her other interests included a love of animals, music, history and reading. She was a parishioner of Trinity Episcopal Church in Ossining.

She is survived by two sons, David H. and Donald R. (Carol), and two grandchildren, Jason and Heather. 

Visiting hours will be held Monday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., with services at Dorsey Funeral Home on Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. Interment will be at Dale Cemetery. Dorsey Funeral Home is at 14 Emwilton Place, Ossining.
