James Brady, 56, Ossining Volunteer Firefighter

OSSINING, N.Y. – James C. Brady, a lifelong Ossining resident, died suddenly on Sept. 27. He was 56. 

Brady worked as an MTA police officer before becoming dispatcher for a fuel oil company. 

He was born Dec. 3, 1955, in Ossining and was the last baby discharged from the old Ossining Hospital. The son of Francis and Ruth Harrington Brady, he graduated from Ossining High School in 1974 and Westchester Community College in 1976 with an associate's degree. 

Brady was a 38-year active member of the Ossining Fire Department, serving as captain of Independent Hose Co. No. 6 in 1986. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and also served as an auxiliary police officer in Ossining. 

Brady is survived by a son, Sean, of Ossining; a brother, Frank "Buster" Brady, of Thousand Oaks, Calif.; and two nephews. 

Visitation is from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Ossining Funeral Home. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Augustine Church in Ossining. Burial will follow at St. Augustine Cemetery in Ossining. 

Memorial donations may be made to the Firemen's Home in Hudson, N.Y.
