Frank Barreiro, 88, Of Ossining, Retired Detective, Police Deparment

OSSINING, N.Y. - Frank Barreiro of Ossining died July 22. He was 88.

Barreiro was born Jan. 27, 1926, in New York City, to Manuel and Carmen (Ramos) Barreiro. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was awarded a Bronze Star. He retired as a detective from the Village of Ossining Police Department. He was co-owner of Phil Bar Blacktop, he worked at Millwood Sanitation and was a building maintenance man, just to name a few. He was a member of the Ossining Fire Department, Monitor Hose, the NYS FOP #9, Westchester Detective's AssociationĀ and Ossining Elk's Lodge.

Barreiro is survived by his wife, Rose; daughters, Diane, Eileen Halsey (Sky), Nancy; seven grandchildren; and a great-grandson. He was predeceased by his brothers, Manuel and Joseph; and sister, Ruth Martin.

Calling hours are Friday, July 25 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Leach and Thomas, Inc. , 32 State St., Ossining. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 26 at St. Ann's Church Ossining. Burial at St. Augustine's Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Prostate Cancer Foundation.
