April 15 is the day each year tax returns are due to the federal government. While many grumble about having to pay taxes, those at Keenan House say paying taxes serves a purpose.
"I use an accountant," Ali Sahin, co-owner of Keenan House said.
Sahin, who is from Turkey, said his home country has similar taxation rules.
"Every country has their own rules and policies," Sahin said. "I just make sure I am compliant."
Erdael Nehir, Keenan House's other co-owner, said there are benefits to paying taxes.
"It's important," Nehir, who is also from Turkey, said. "The government provides you services like parks and roads. I am happy to pay taxes."
William Bird, bartender at Keenan House, said taxes are the price you pay to live in a civilized society.
"If you don't want taxes, you're not going to get any services," Bird said.
