Residents are advised to be aware of the following road closure to Friday, Nov. 18.

Holbrook Road between its intersection with Scarborough Road and Holbrook Lane, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. It will reopen during the intervening weekend.

Due to the nature of construction work, homeowners, emergency services and school buses will be permitted access during workdays.

The construction calls for the entire replacement of the original nearly 100-year-old sanitation sewer line and siphon chamber, as well as associated interconnections.

Because of the location of other existing utilities and distance regulations in the placement of the new sewer line, most construction must be relocated straight down the center line of this narrow road offering little or no space for daily traffic during construction.

Boulders

Property owners who, over time and more recently, have placed sizable rocks and boulders in the village’s right of way are being given notice.

These boulders and rocks, and sizable plantings or decorations, are on village property and potentially cause safety and liability issues.

The locations will be reviewed to assess potential risk and determine where leaf pickups are and if it interferes with snow plowing.

Local Law 2-2014 was adopted by the village Nov. 5, 2014. It creates and adopts provisions for permitted accessory building dwelling units in certain residential zones.

In order to permit such accessory dwelling units, action must be taken by Dec. 31. Contact the Building Department at 914-944-2770 or engineer@briarcliffmanor.org

Briarcliff Manor police

Police have been investigating a number of larcenies from cars parked within the village. Information has been obtained through various law enforcement sources that the suspects may be the “Felony Lane Gang,” a criminal gang based in Florida that uses the victim’s driver’s license, debit/credit cards and checks at local banks.

Prime targets are cars of women parked at fitness centers, parks and day care centers.

Residents are reminded to lock vehicles and not to leave purses or wallets (or any other valuables) visible in your cars.

Do not confront suspects, but report all suspicious activity to the police.
