Ossining Man Convicted of Child Sexual Abuse

CROTON-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. – Croton kung fu instructor Frank DeMaria, 68, of Ossining was convicted Tuesday of sexually abusing four young girls.

DeMaria was found guilty of three counts of felony sexual conduct against a child, two felony counts of sexual abuse, and four misdemeanor counts of endangering the welfare of a child stemming from incidents involving four female child victims, said the Westchester County District Attorney's office.

According to the DA, adults initially reported to Croton Police that they saw the defendant take the young students into a corner and watches as the defendant’s gyrated his hips.

Female victims then told investigators that the defendant instructed them, on more than one occasion, to grab his penis and to squeeze and pull it repeatedly.

According to the DA, the defendant is an internationally-known grand master instructor who owned and operated a kung fu studio in Croton-on-Hudson. The victims were students and the incidents took place between Nov. 1,2009 and Jan. 6, 2011 at the studio, the DA said.

The DeMaria was arrested by Croton Police on Jan. 14,2011. The defendant, who was remanded after the verdict, faces a maximum of seven years in state prison on each of the top counts when he is sentenced on May 8.
