Hydrant Flushing Tops Briarcliff Village Manager's Report

BRIARCLIFF MANOR, N.Y. – Hydrant flushing in certain parts of Briarcliff will continue until Friday afternoon, according to Village Manager Philip Zegarelli’s latest report.

Flushing will begin at around 9 a.m. each day finish at 4 p.m. The areas to be flushed are: Chappaqua Road from Route 100 to Pleasantville Road, Pleasantville Road from Old Briarcliff Road to Chappaqua Road, Pleasantville Road from Chappaqua Road to North State Road, Colby Lane, Spruce Road, Hemlock Road, Hickory Road, Willow Drive, Locust Road Burns Place, Whitson Road, Fuller Road, Hungerford Road, Parkway Road, Crest Drive, Pine Court, Hungerford Road North and Candlewood Court.

As a result of this work, residents can expect discolored water at any time, but particularly between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Even if discolored, continuing laboratory testing has indicated that in the past the water has contained no harmful bacteria.

Word Games Group meets Tuesdays, July 12, July 26 and Aug. 9 from 5:15-6 p.m. for fourth graders and up. Games include giant Boggle, word puzzlers/secret codes, group hangman, poetry games and more. To register, contact Amy Kaplan at 941-7072 or abgkaplan@gmail.com.

Make it Mondays meets now through Aug. 15 from 4-5 p.m. for 6-9 year olds. Children ages 10-12 can be helpers/participants. Make something different every meeting. Projects of the week will be posted in advance on the library's website. Contact Amy Kaplan at 941-7072 or abgkaplan@gmail.com.

Recreation and Parks:

Weekday pool hours are now 12:45 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Don’t delay, apply for or renew your membership soon. Pool permits (as well as tennis permits) are required for the season.

Family Fun Night 2016 is set to take place Friday at 6 p.m. at the Village Pool. There is no need to pre-register. Scheduled events include the Big Splash Tandem Jump, the Kiddy Kickboard race, traditional swim races, and the annual ice cream eating contests and family penny dive. The rain date for the event is set for Friday, July 15.
