All of Joseph Prestigiacomo projects had fallen through and he was really in a time crunch to complete a project to attain the rank of Eagle Scout.
Circle daVinci members suggested a bocce court at Downing Park on Route 22 as a project, but Prestigiacomo would need to raise the money for materials. Club members came together and sold pledges of $25, $50, $75 and $100, so far, the pledges have raised $1,125, but $500 is still needed to complete the project.
Many club members helped with the project, as did members of the community, said Dorothea LaScala, of the Circolo daVinci.
"Much to this young man's credit he was able to get the project done in two days," added LaScala.
So far, the organization has donated four bocce courts to the town of Yorktown.
"We would like to thank Dave Paganelli and the Parks Department for preparing the site, and providing additional items that were needed; Tom Diana who helped to supervise and offer his expertise and tools, and to William LaScala for his help with materials and tools and help," she said. "Circolo da Vinci is not only about our heritage and culture, but about our community, and the Boy Scouts are a worthy organization, and a source of pride in our town"
