GoFundMe Launched For Ossining Teens To Attend Conference

OSSINING, N.Y. -- Twenty-five Ossining High School teens who are members of Youth 2 Youth have started a GoFundMe page in an effort to raise funds to help pay their way to attend a four-day Y2Y Leadership Conference.

Some 25 Ossining High School students who are members of Y2Y are trying to raise enough money to attend the organization's summer conference through a GoFundMe page.

During the conference, held at Bryant College in Rhode Island, the teens will meet and hear leadership speakers, live on a college campus for four days and then come back to Ossining to work with the Y2Y club to promote a drug and alcohol free lifestyle among their peers.

Three Ossining Y2Y teens have been selected to serve as "youth leaders" at the conference, and Alice Joselow, from Ossining Communities That Care, has been selected as an adult leader.

The teens are receiving transportation to the event from the Westchester County STOP DWI office which will provide a free bus and the Ossining Police Department is providing youth Officer, Det. Ed Walker to chaperone the teens at the conference.

Tuition is $425 per teen. Each teen is raising $175 themselves, and CTC has written a grant to help cover other costs, but they are not sure if it will be funded. To date, they have raised $700 of the $7,500 needed.
