Mercy College Offers Free Tax Preparation

DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. -- Mercy College will offer free tax preparation by appointment for qualifying taxpayers on weekends.

To qualify for the volunteer income tax assistance program, participants must meet certain income thresholds established by the Internal Revenue Service.

Appointments are available on Saturdays from Feb. 6 through April 9 and Sundays from Feb. 14 through March 13. Saturday hours are 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., and Sunday hours are 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

To determine eligibility, contact the United Way 2-1-1 Help Line and follow these steps:

1. Dial “211”
2. Press menu option 6 to reach tax assistance personnel
3. Tell personnel you are looking to schedule an appointment for free tax preparation at the Mercy College Dobbs Ferry Site under the VITA Program
4. You will be screened for income eligibility and an appointment will be scheduled if eligible. They will advise on what documents to bring to the appointment.

Assistance will take place in Victory Hall Room 100.
