Scattered snow showers during the day Friday are likely to serve as just a preview of what the area is in store as accumulating snow is looking increasingly likely Sunday into Monday.

Below normal temperatures and wind chills will lead up to the snow with wind-chill values between 20 and 25 during the day Friday under partly sunny skies and just a bit warmer Saturday, which will be mostly sunny, according to the National Weather Service.

The chance for snow starts at around 4 p.m. Sunday after a cloudy day in which the high temperature will struggle to reach the freezing mark. Snow is likely after 10 p.m. Sunday with the window for snowfall until around 10 a.m. Monday, followed by a chance of a rain/snow mix and then more snow possible again after 3 p.m. Monday, particular in areas farther north.

It is too early to project snowfall accumulation totals in Westchester, Putnam and Rockland counties, but snow and ice accumulations could total between 2 to 4 inches in Dutchess, according to AccuWeather.com.
