The dismantling operations will now move to Hudson River next week, with the removal of large sections of concrete and steel planned with mobile cranes and including the super crane.

The super crane is scheduled to be relocated near the Westchester landing and assist with removing a section of the old bridge’s steel. It will remove 20 similar sections through next spring, the largest weighing more than 1,300 tons.

Work also continues on the new bridge's second span in Rockland and Westchester counties. To prepare the base of the roadway, precast concrete slabs will be installed near the bridge’s landings.

The operations will require overnight lane closures of Thruway (I-87/I-287) southbound/eastbound traffic lanes from exit 11 (Nyack - South Nyack - US Route 9W) to exit 10 (Nyack – South Nyack – US Route 9W) next week.

Work will also require the overnight closure of the southbound/eastbound Thruway exit 10 on-ramp. Southbound/eastbound drivers will be detoured to the exit 11 on-ramp.
