More than 150 competitors from the schools started the day by completing 500 kicks each. In addition, each student completed 500 kicks earlier in the week at their respective schools for a total of 1,000 kicks. Following the kicks, each school participated in team demonstrations, tag team sparring and individual competitions of forms, breaking and sparring.

With money still coming in, they are expected to reach $30,000. Creator of the event, Master Chris Berlow, hosted along with the UMAC Briarcliff School. Last year’s Kick-a-Thon raised $20,000 for LLS, inspiring attendees with the 50 percent increase in money raised.

Sponsors of the event included: Isagenix, Soulauras, Club Fit and Solar City. UMAC is also the Presenting Sponsor of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Sleepy Hollow Triathlon, which will take place June 14. Participants can register here.
