Spartans Top Harrison in Wfsl Swim Meet

OSSINING, N.Y. – The Ossining Spartans Swim Team stroked to a decisive 294-172 victory over the Harrison Recreation Swim Team Sunday at Ossining’s Joseph G. Caputo Community Center in the final meet of the Westchester-Fairfield Swim League season.

The Spartans girls opened by sweeping the medley relay in all age groups and Taiis Messado, Deeya Patel and Lilly Pawliczak swept the girls 8-and-under 25-meter freestyle.

Diveck Patel and Gabriel Ardito placed 2-3 in the boys 25 free event.  Hailey Roksvold took first in 38:93 in the girls 10-and-under 50 free.  In the girls 12-and-under 50 free, Kate Flynn took first, finishing in 32:58 and Emma San Martin took third in 36:81.

Vlad Moise and Alex Carrazzone took second and third place in the boys 12-under 50 free, and Adriana Pani took first in the girls 14-under 100 free events.

The Spartan boys swept the 14-under 100 free event, with Nico San Martin swimming to a first in 1:05:78, James Cevasco second in 1:19:59, and Marcelo Galindo, 9, third in 1:33:78.

Mollie Demaine took the 100 free in 1:17:40 and Hannah Wolland placed third. Dan Schatz, 17, took first in 1:03:45, Gavin Demaine second, and Mathias Gomez third in the boys 18-under 100 free.

Jessica Garcia won the 10-under 50 back in 47:79 with Ryann Englebracht taking third.  Emma San Martin finished second in the 12-under in 42:14. Emma Del Principe took first place in the 14-under 100 in 1:34:51, followed by Marissa Lewis.

Stella Meyerhoeffer won the 18-under 100 back in 1:31:70.

The Spartans boys 8-under 25 backstroke was swept by Gabriel Ardito, Ryan Roksvold and Demetrios Gutierrez.  In the 10-under 50, Marcelo Galindo took second in 50:17 and Thomas Gustin third.  Nico San Martin, Vlad Moise and Mathias Gomez swept the 12-under 50 backstroke.

Demi Bauer was second and Alexandra Kantrowitz third in the 8-under 100 IM. Mathias Gomez took first in the 8-under boys event and Marcelo Galindo took second in the 10-under. Katie Flynn and Emma San Martin took first and second in 12-under with Katie’s finish of 3:00:2.

Alex Carrazzone took third in the 12-under boys IM and Mollie Demaine and Hailey Roksvold took first and second in the girls 18-under event.

In the 8-under girls 25 breaststroke event, Serafina Capasso and Alexandra Kantrowitz took first and second and Maxwell Gustin placed first in the 8-under boys event in 34.23 seconds.

Molly Boozang-Hill and Stephanie Rios took second and third in the 10-under girls 50 breaststroke as did Thomas Gustin and Gavin Demaine.  Vlad Moise and Alex Carrazzone were second and third in 12-under boys and Emma Del Principe and Katelyn Browne first and third in the girls 14-under.

James Cevasco grabbed first in the 14-under boys 100 breaststroke with Max Saich in second. Sammy Englebracht won the 18-under 100 in 1:43:97 and Dan Schatz won the 18-under boys100 in 1:27:00.

Spartan girls Lilly Pawliczak, Demi Bauer, and Deeya Patel swept the girls 8-under 25 butterfly and Ryan Roksvold took first in the boys 8-under fly.  Hailey Roksvold finished second in the 10-under girls 50 fly, followed by Jessica Garcia.

Gavin Demaine and Daniel Browne took second and third in the boys 10-under 50 fly and Stella Meyerhoeffer, 9, placed first in the 12-under girls event, in 43:42.  Nico San Martin took the boys 12-under 50 fly, took first.

Katie Flynn won the 14-under girls 100 butterfly in 1:29:34 and Adriana Pani took first in the 18-under event, with a 1:36:60 finish over 100 meters.

The Spartans will face off against other WFSL teams at the league championships March 4 at the West Point pool.
