Playoff-Bound Ossining Goes for Fifth Win, Friday

BREWSTER, N.Y. – Ossining was facing a difficult situation last week at halftime of its game with Horace Greeley.

Ossining trailed by 13 points, knowing that a loss would eliminate the team from the Section 1 Class A Football Championships. Understanding the magnitude of its plight, Ossining came roaring back in the second half, scoring 18 unanswered points for a 30-25 win.

Ossining, 4-2 this season, clinched a play-off spot and will look to improve on its’ seed when it plays at Brewster, Friday, 6:30 p.m. Brewster will need a win to qualify for the playoffs.“I felt we came out a different team in the second half,” Ossining coach Dan Ricci said. “I challenged the team at halftime to play with some heart and emotion. We were much more physical and tackling better in the second half.”

Ossining, which did not make the playoffs in 2010, received a mammoth game from Marc Clancy, who carried 22 times for 139 yards. Josh Almodovar added 101 yards rushing. Quarterback Brian Connolly completed four throws for 114 yards and two touchdowns – to Sam LaCour. Brewster crushed Hen Hud, 36-0, last week.
