Ossining Will Host Somers In Sectional Football Semifinal

The Pride (6-2) are fresh off a thrilling, if not exhausting 62-59 victory over John Jay-Cross River in last week's quarterfinals but will meet a much better defense this week in the Tuskers, who topped Walter Panas 29-26 in last week's quarterfinals.

Justin Davidov, who ran for 172 yards rushing and 188 yards passing, including the winning touchdown pass to Shea Holebrook with 42 seconds left in last week's win, leads the run-and-gun option offense. Holebrook caught three touchdown passes last week and will be a factor against Somers' tough defense.

Somers' balanced offense is led by running back Connor Vlasaty and Tim Fazzinga, who each scored a fourth-quarter touchdown to lift the Tuckers to a comeback win last week. Matt Morgante supplies a power running game at fullback.

Somers (6-2) won 33-22 the last time the two teams met last October in the playoffs. This game will come down to which defense can make big plays. Ossining gives it up on defense and Somers is defending it's Section 1 title.

The winner plays the winner of Rye and Tappan Zee at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 9 at Mahopac High School for the Section 1 championship.
