Ossining Spartans Swim Strong In Loss To Peekskill

OSSINING, N.Y. — With the summer swimming season moving toward the finish line, the Ossining Spartans sustained their first loss of the season, falling 263-221 to Peekskill at the Joseph G. Caputo Community Center Pool.

Ossining, competing in Division 4 of the Northern Westchester Swim Conference, throughout the meet challenged Peekskill, last year’s Division 3 champions.

The Spartans trailed by nine points after the individual events until Peekskill used its strong relay teams to pull out the win against an Ossining squad that was depleted by the loss of vacationing swimmers.

Ossining will complete its regular season by hosting Torview at that club’s pool Saturday in the last meet before the conference championship meet Aug. 4.

The Spartans blue-ribbon winners were Serafina Capasso, Brandon Carlos, Alex Carrazzone, Orien Douglas, Yohance Douglas, Maggie Dymes, Katie Flynn, Matias Gomez, Yousef Kamal, Nicole Marcatoma, Stella Meyerhoeffer, Sammy Novo, Ryan Roksvold, Emma San Martin and Nico San Martin.

Spartans Coach Mike Kane invites swimmers in northern Westchester to begin training with the team. Kame may be contacted at www.Spartansswimteam.com or stop by the Joseph G. Caputo Community Center Pool in Ossining.

From a report by Susan Gibbs de San Martin.
