OSSINING, N.Y. The Ossining Pride blew out visiting Lincoln, 71-44, on Wednesday in the outbracket round of the Class AA playoffs.
Their reward is a trip to No. 3 Mahopac on Friday. Ossining co-coach Ed Walker said after Wednesdays win that he did not have much information on the Indians but offered a few thoughts about the matchup.
I hear theyre a pretty tough opponent, Walker said. Im trying to get a little information on them now, go home and study but I think its going to be more of a half-court game.
Walker said Ossining usually plays in Mahopacs tournament at around Christmas but did not do so this season.
Im sorry we didnt, Walker said.
Ossining is the No. 14 seed in the Class AA playoffs, so the rest of the Prides games will more than likely be on the road even if it pulls off the upset on Friday. But that is a challenge that Walker embraces.
As a player, I always cherished the thought of being in somebody elses gym and beating them, Walker said. And I try to instill that in my kids. Myself and coach (Khalid) Sales, we look at it as a major challenge. We look at it as not really a problem. We like to play on the road and I think its important the kids can play anywhere. I mean, the baskets the same. I dont care. Ten feet high.
