Ossining Baseball's Belitz Recalls Top Memories

OSSINING, N.Y. -- Ossining High School baseball star Matt Belitz graduates this month after fulfilling his dream of having an opportunity to play at the college level and excelling academically as a member of the National Honor Society. He is headed to Marist College in the fall.

Belitz, who concentrated his athletic career solely on baseball as Ossining's shortstop, was a defensive standout and part of the Pride’s league title in 2011 - the school's first in 26 years. Ossining went 9-1 in league, 14-9 overall and won two postseason games in the Section 1 Class AA tournament last spring and continued with a strong season in 2012 with a 12-9 record and a berth in the Section 1 Class B tournament.

Belitz, who batted .314 with seven runs batted in and four doubles, recalled the "Top Three Memories" of his high school years.

1. Beating the No. 4 seed John Jay/East Fishkill in the sectional playoff last year.

2. Being named to the National Honor Society.

3. Winning the Christian Federico Award. (named for a former Ossining athlete)
