New MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred Of Tarrytown Looks To Reach Young Fans

TARRYTOWN, N.Y. -– Tarrytown resident Rob Manfred, Major League Baseball’s new commissioner, is hoping to reach more young fans, along with a host of other changes, as the 2015 season opens April 6, the commissioner revealed in a new interview with the Wall Street Journal.

Manfred addresses the importance of technology and the use of streaming to reach younger fans, in addition to what he calls the generational turnover of baseball stars, in the interview.  

Manfred, 56, is the 10th commissioner in baseball history and was the executive vice president for labor relations for 15 years before being named COO in September 2013. Before joining MLB, Manfred was a labor attorney.
