OSSINING , N.Y. – A former Olympian from Ossining who in 2000 competed in the summer games in Sydney, Australia, has returned to the hammer throw not as an athlete, but as a coach, according to News 12.
Paddy McGrath, who competed for Ireland in 2000, has traveled to Rio de Janeiro to coach Rudy Winkler, an American who recently had the top throw at the Olympic trials in Oregon, according to News 12.
The hammer throw is scheduled to begin Wednesday morning, with the competition finals scheduled to take place Friday, according to News 12.
McGrath says his aim is to help Winkler “stay in the moment” during the games in Rio de Janeiro, according to News 12.
