OSSINING, N.Y. – The Women’s Basketball Coaches Association announced Tuesday it has selected Ossining High School girls’ basketball star Saniya Chong to play in the 2013 WBCA High School All-America Game.
The top 20 high school female basketball players in the nation will compete in the 22nd annual game, which will be played according to official NCAA rules.
Chong, a senior, was the only girl selected from New York. The game will be played Saturday, April 6 at 5:30 p.m. at the New Orleans Arena, the location of the NCAA Women’s Final Four.
The WBCA made the announcement on its official website.
The news could be the start of one of the best weeks of Chong’s high school career, as the UConn-bound senior needs just 38 points to break the all-time Section 1 scoring record of 2,662 points. Ossining hosts Blind Brook on Wednesday and Irvington on Friday.
