The afternoon ceremony was attended by school officials, parents and students. Board of Education President Bill Kress presented Ginsburg, founder and principal of Ginsburg Development Cos., with a certificate of appreciation in a reception at the school library.
Park Principal Carrieann Sipos told Ginsburg that the addition of the new playground has contributed to the overall well-being of Park students, meeting their physical and health needs.
"We love the slides, especially the fast slide,” Sipos said.
Superintendent of Schools Raymond Sanchez told Ginsburg that Park students “are loving the new playground. And when they smile, we smile.”
He also promised students at the reception that he might consider using the fast slide himself. In a subsequent visit to the playground by the group, Sanchez made good on his promise, taking a ride down the slide.
Ginsburg told the students and parents in attendance that he was “proud to help one of the most outstanding school districts in the region.”
The new playground is the first project to be funded by GDC’s $400,000 donation to the Ossining school district. GDC has also made a $600,000 donation to the village of Ossining for downtown improvements.
According to GDC, the donations are part of the company’s commitment to investing in the communities where it constructs developments.
GDC is currently constructing Harbor Square, a 188-unit luxury rental apartment complex with a 6,000-square-foot restaurant on the Ossining waterfront. Harbor Square is scheduled for completion in spring 2016.
