The Ossining district is among the few schools to receive the highest awards in the state.

The inclusion of the Ossining schools in this funding program was championed by Assemblywoman Sandy Galef and state Sen. David Carlucci. “This is great news for our schools,” said Galef, D-Ossining. “As a former teacher, I can say that it has become even more important to receive an early education. Prekindergarten programs have been shown to improve literacy skills and create a foundation for lifelong educational success. Children are ready to learn at an early age, and we cannot afford to have them play catch-up later in life.” This program represents the largest expansion of full-day prekindergarten in state education history. “Funding quality pre-K throughout the Hudson Valley will make sure our children will have the high-quality preschool education they deserve," said Carlucci, D-Westchester/Rockland. "Study after study proves early education has a long-lasting, positive influence on our children's future success."

Ossining Schools Superintendent Ray Sanchez was grateful for the work of Galef and Carlucci.

"I want to thank Assemblywoman Galef and Sen. Carlucci for working together to make sure our kids here in Ossining received adequate funding to extend our high-quality prekindergarten program," said Sanchez.

"This enormous grant will give our children a head start and the opportunity to succeed throughout their educational careers at no additional cost to the local taxpayer and no increase in the school budget.”
