Ossining Prom Creates Lasting Memories

OSSINING, N.Y. - Before heading out for an unforgettable night at Ossining High School's Senior Prom, Jackson Kane had to make a quick stop in Briarcliff Manor.

The 18-year-old senior visited his aunt, Katie Kottner, at Atria at Briarcliff Manor. Hundreds of Ossining High School seniors traditionally meet down at Louis Engel Waterfront Park before catching a bus off to prom. But Kane said he knew his aunt couldn't make it to the park, so he didn't have a problem holding off the evening for a quick visit.

"I've been looking forward to it for months, but I wanted to stop by and share this with my family first," Kane said. "I knew this would mean a lot to her."

Parent Beth Kane agreed.

"It's a lot of effort and planning, but it's an important culmination of a great year," she said. "Aunt Katie is a part of our family and we wanted her to be a part of this celebration."

Kottner said she knew how memorable a night prom can be.

"I love the fact that they made a special trip," she said. "I can remember my prom and my date and I ended up marrying him. So it could be very special."

Jackson said he would keep an open mind about the evening.

"We'll see how things work out," he said. "You never know how things could work out."
