A lice tecnician, Dale Longworth, the owner of DML Lice Removal Services in Dobbs Ferry talked about how the bug is transmitted and its life cycle, among topics.
She then demonstrated the steps to get rid of lice, and talked about products available on the market, citing natural products and comb outs as the best way to treat lice.
The presentation drew 20 parents, mostly mothers.
Kim Flood, both a mom and hair dresser, suggested kids wear their hair up in a fashionable style to keep themselves free from lice.
She demonstrated some buns and braids.
Longworth recommended weekly preventive treatments and having all the products in your house in case you suddenly realize your child has lice.
These include shampoo, a lice comb, thick conditioner and baking soda. She also recommended checking your child's hair for lice in natural sun light.
