OSSINING, N.Y. -- Ossining High School’s Engineering Club has started its 2016 robotics season.
Ossining’s Team No. 4122, the OBots, was started in 2012 and competes each year in FRC (FIRST Robotics Challenge). This year’s challenge, STRONGHOLD, requires students – in just six weeks – to build a robot that can launch “boulders," overcome barriers and scale a tower.
The team will compete in the NYC Regional competition at the Jacob Javits Convention Center from March 11-13 and at the Long Island Regional competition at Hofstra on April 1-2.
Competitions are open to the public and admission is free.
The Ossining Engineering Club enables Ossining High School students to get involved in the process of engineering, machine work, computer programming, team organization and electrical work.
Through its annual participation in the FIRST Robotics Competition and the Connecticut Electrathon, students are given hands-on experience that is relevant to many careers in engineering, science, mathematics and computer science.
