OSSINING, N.Y. As long as they have smartphones, parents and residents dont need to be around a computer anymore to find out the latest news in the Ossining Union Free School District.
Now, theres an app for that, as School Communications Coordinator Ellen Lane said in a press release. The application, which is now available on the iTunes store and on the Android Marketplace, allows people to use the parent portal, staff links, quick links and stay connected sections that are also available on the districts webpage.
Deputy Superintendent Ray Sanchez said the idea behind starting the application came down to ease of use for parents.
This app is just another tool that were using to reach out to the community and make it easier for people to be informed and involved in the schools, Sanchez said in the press release. We know how busy people are today and this puts all of the districts information in one, easily accessible place.
School officials say they plan to continue updating the application regularly.
We also have easier access to building contact information and social media as well as links for families such as parent portal, lunch menus, athletics schedules and news stories, assistant director of Technology Jennifer Forsberg said in the press release. We will continually update the app to keep it current and periodically release updates of the software.
Lane said community members can download the application from either the Android Marketplace or the iTunes Store by typing in OUFSD in either search bar.
