Murray, Kress Win Ossining School Board Vote

OSSINING, N.Y. – Newcomer Lisa Murray took in the most votes as she and incumbent Bill Kress earned the two open seats on the Ossining School Board Tuesday night.

Murray took in 1,496 votes, Kress garnered 1,424 and newcomer Carlos Desmaras received 470 votes, Ossining school officials said Tuesday night. Murray is set to join Kress on the school board. Trustee Cindy Winter did not seek re-election.

Voters also approved the proposed $110 million 2013-14 district budget with 1,430 votes in favor and 670 votes against, school officials said.

Lisa Murray is a 13-year Ossining resident who has worked in financial services and has three children in the school district. She is the Vice President of SEPTO, the district’s special education parent teacher organization.

Bill Kress, 52, has lived in Ossining his entire life and is a retired Ossining police sergeant with two children in the district. Kress has served six years on the Ossining School District’s Board of Education and is the board’s current president.
