I am pleased to introduce myself and explain why I am running for

Ossining’s School Board. I am dedicated to Ossining’s schools. This

past year I developed a low-cost extracurricular STEAM learning

experience for Park and Brookside students called Destination

Imagination (DI). Ossining is surrounded by districts with successful

DI programs and I wanted our students to have access to the same

benefits as their peers. DI became a collaborative effort between

school administrators, students, parents and the community. I have

ideas for several inexpensive programs that can benefit our students

while promoting a strong school to home connection. A strong school

to home connection is something I firmly believe is paramount to

student success. I am the only candidate who will have children in the

school district during the next term at the schools that serve our

youngest students. This is where our students are first exposed to

the OUFSD curriculum, and where there is a unique opportunity to lay

the ground work for a strong relationship with parents and guardians.

I am a 2000 graduate of Duke and earned my law degree from Tulane. I

currently practice civil litigation. I have been selected by

SuperLawyers magazine for the past two years as a "Rising Star" in my

field. I also have a strong public service background. I served as a

Bronx Assistant District Attorney from 2005-2011. As an ADA I worked

closely with NYC schools to investigate and prosecute crimes that took

place within the schools. From 2009 until the time I transitioned to

civil practice in 2011, I investigated human trafficking of at-risk

youth and the criminal enterprises that took advantage of them. I have

experience dealing with juvenile crime youthful offenders, sexual

assault, bullying, gang violence, cyber crime, theft, weapons

possession, harassment, menacing and crimes committed upon students by

staff and faculty. I also have extensive training and experience in

the psychological and sociological forces that impact the staff,

families and students of a diverse school district. My practical

legal experience combined with my proven commitment to innovation and

community collaboration will be a tremendous asset to Ossining's

School Board.
