OSSINING, N.Y. – Ossining Matters awarded Ossining schools a grant for a Summer Programming and Innovation Academy at Anne M. Dorner Middle School, the district announced in an email.
The grant will allow a small group of sixth- and seventh-graders to explore various aspects of computer programming and circuit design, the email said.
“This program will engage students in authentic, hands-on learning as they design and test circuits using a ‘Makey Makey’ circuit board and learn basic programming using ‘LEGO MINDSTORMS’ Robotics,” the email said.
The summer program is scheduled Mondays to Thursdays from July 8 to July 18. Interested students must return an Interest Form, available online , to the Anne M. Dorner Middle School main office by April 30. Selected students will be asked to attend an orientation at the middle school on May 8 at 6 p.m. Families must be able to provide transportation to and from the academy over the summer.
