Questions about David Fleishman's speech began to arise on Wednesday, July 23 after five sentences he delivered closely resembled a commencement speech Patrick gave at Boston University, the Globe said.
Fleishman spent five years as the superintendent in Chappaqua before stepping down to take the position in Newtown. He had been an assistant superintendent for human resources in Ossining.
The NewtonTAB cited two examples uncovered by a pair of recent Newton South High School grads who worked at the school paper you can read here.
Fleishman declined to call his mistake outright plagiarism, but admitted he should have attributed comments to Patrick, according to the NewtonTAB. His loss of a week's pay is approximately $5,000, reported the NewtonTAB.
