BPTA members gave each board member a tote bag during a reception, according to a press release.

“In honor of School Board Recognition Week, we would like to thank the Board of Education for their service and contribution to our district,” BPTA co-president Eileen Madden said during the event.

“…we know that as a board, you face complex and demanding challenges. You all have to make difficult decisions every year related to financial matters, staffing and policies. Even though you may individually disagree on issues, you must work together collectively to ensure that you are balancing educational excellence with fiscal reality. It may seem that at times, the community is quick to criticize the board or individual members, and it must not always be easy leading our district, but we thank you for your untiring efforts and leadership.”

“Too often we forget that board members are volunteers. Each board member contributes countless hours and makes personal sacrifices to serve our community. Attending board meetings is just what we see on TV. But you spend many hours behind the scenes attending seminars and training sessions to learn about the latest trends in education and technology, as well as participating in school and community events.”
