Briarcliff High School Yearbook 'The Bruin' Wins Silver Award

BRIARCLIFF MANOR, N.Y. -- For the second consecutive year, Briarcliff High School’s yearbook, The Bruin, has been recognized by the Columbia Scholastic Press Association with a Silver Award.

Current staffers are looking to build upon the success of last year’s yearbook, which was co-edited by 2014 graduates Devon Levy and Olivia Gelard.

“The goal is to make it the best yearbook it can be,” said junior Allison Greenberg, who is co-editor-in-chief with senior Emily McGranaghan. “We also want to make it a yearbook for everyone.”

This year, The Bruin staff is working to make sure every student in the school has at least two mentions in the finished product – not an easy feat.

Advisers Jeremy Shulman and Nina Marcel, who oversee the Yearbook Club staff’s work, said the group is aiming for a CSPA Gold Award this year, having missed the top honor by just two points in 2014.

"Despite having fewer than 10 students working on the publication, we have really hardworking editors who are extremely dedicated to the book," said McGranaghan. "We want to produce something we can all be proud of.”
