“Ensuring that our schools are successful is not an easy task,” said Superintendent Dr. James Kaishian. “It takes patience, it takes vigilance, it takes determination and I couldn’t be more proud to be the superintendent of schools and be associated with you.”
Senator David Carlucci, Assemblywoman Sandy Galef, a representative from Rep. Nita Lowey's office and Briarcliff elected officials were on hand to congratulate Todd and Principal Nadine McDermott.
“We are so proud to have such a fantastic school district in our village,” said village trustee Mark Wilson.
Carlucci said that as one of just 279 schools to receive the 2016 Blue Ribbon award, of more than 100,000 schools nationwide, Todd is “a model of excellence.”
“You guys here in Briarcliff are leading the way and it’s an example for all of us to follow,” said Carlucci. “Keep up the excellent work.”
Galef told the students in attendance their hard work contributed to the Blue Ribbon Award.
“You just have to pat yourself on the back and say what a good job you did and continue it forward,” she said.
Jennifer Rosen, president of the Briarcliff Board of Education presented McDermott with a plaque and commendation letter on behalf of the board before she addressed the crowd.
“At the heart of Todd School’s success is the dedication of our teaching faculty to our belief that all children are intrinsically motivated to learn,” McDermott said. “I am honored and proud to be the principal. We are forever blue.”
