Police Search For Suspect In Hit-Run Crash Seriously Injuring Mastic Man

Police investigators are seeking information as they search for a suspect involved in a hit-and-run that left a man hospitalized earlier this month on Long Island.

Suffolk County resident Jacob Rodriguez was walking in Mastic on Mastic Road near the intersection of Cumberland Street at approximately 1:30 a.m. on Sunday, March 13 in Mastic when he was struck by a driver who fled the scene, police said.

Rodriguez, age 28, had to be airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of serious, but not non-life-threatening injuries.

According to police, the vehicle was described as being a dark-colored sedan with possible damage to the front passenger side of the vehicle and front lights.

Anyone with information regarding the hit-and-run has been asked to contact Suffolk County Crime Stoppers by calling 1-800-220-TIPS or submitting an anonymous tip online.
