According to Lisa Polino, director of marketing and business development for the center, Simon recently held a digital and social campaign to celebrate fashion's nostalgia while highlighting seasonal trends. The Back to School #throwbackthursday campaign, which ended Wednesday, Aug. 24, asked folks to share their most memorable back to school photos for a chance to win Simon gift cards and a $5,000 shopping spree.

The contest is over but the public is invited to vote for a winner through Aug.29. Visit www.simon.com to vote and watch a fun back to school video.

In the meantime, here's what you can expect to see as you prep for back to school shopping.

Modern 90’s Nostalgia: Say  hello to plaids, "lived in" flannels, denim on denim, combat boots and the grunge look. Polino says shirt and slip dresses are big as are slip on shoes -- think white sport sneakers. These looks can be found in Bloomingdale’s, Gap, Banana Republic and more.

The Offbeat Look: Sporty silhouettes keep the "athlesiure" trend front and center. This year, however, there are more bright colors and clashing graphics, often paired with cheeky slogans and emojis on tee’s, "basically clothes that speak for themselves," said Polino. Many of these can be found at Bloomingdale’s, H&M and also collegiate apparel from Victoria’s Secret.

A more modern utility look is also popular with olives and khakis serving as the new neutrals with patches of feminine touches available at Banana Republic, Brooks Brothers, and JCrew. You'll also see lots of slim cut pants and textured fabrics, said Polino.

This extends to accessories as well with statement booties and block heels as seen in Tory Burch and Stuart Weitzman in suedes and patent leather. Choker necklaces and box shaped handbags as seen in Coach and Bloomingdale’s.
