Andrew Arteaga, 27, was charged with six counts of possession of narcotics, five counts of possession within 1,500 feet of a school, six counts of sale of narcotics, five counts of sale within 1,500 feet of a school, and one count of possession of less than a half-ounce of marijuana. He was held on $450,000 bond and will appear in court May 27.
Arteaga was arrested on warrants Wednesday by the Norwalk Police Department's Special Services Division, with assistance from Stamford and Westport police.
The warrants resulted from a narcotics investigation lasting several weeks, during which an undercover officer bought cocaine from Arteaga on five separate occasions, according to police reports. The purchases all took place in Norwalk in busy commercial parking lots, primarily in the Connecticut Avenue area, police said.
He was taken into custody Wednesday night in the parking lot of 330 Connecticut Ave., police said. At the time of his arrest, Arteaga had 2.9 grams of cocaine in his possession, according to police.
Norwalk Officer Richard Montanez and K-9 Kai assisted in a search of his car, which yielded an additional 1.98 grams of cocaine and 3 grams of marijuana, according to police.
After his arrest, Stamford police conducted a search-and-seizure warrant at Arteaga's apartment on Lincoln Avenue in Stamford. During that search a small amount of cocaine was found in his apartment, according to police.
