What To Do Around Eastchester This Weekend

EASTCHESTER, N.Y. – There will be plenty to do around Eastchester and Tuckahoe this weekend, with a full slate of events. There will be a German celebration at Growlers Beer Bistro and a harvest festival at Waverly Elementary School. See our Events Page for a complete list of local and public events.

Friday, Oct. 12

Film series: 1 p.m. The Eastchester Public Library will continue its film series by screening “Dark Shadows.” 11 Oakridge Place, Eastchester.

Preschool Story time: 11 a.m. The Tuckahoe Public Library hosts a special story time for preschool children. 71 Columbus Ave., Tuckahoe.

Saturday, Oct. 13

Harvest festival: 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Waverly Elementary School is hosting its annual fall festival for students and families. 45 Hall Ave., Eastchester. 

Oktoberfest: 1 p.m. Growlers Beer Bistro will be serving German beer and food outside to celebrate the European festival. There will be beer games, a beer truck and kids games for the young at heart. 25 Main St., Tuckahoe.

Varsity football: 1:30 p.m. The Eastchester football team will face Pelham on the gridiron. 575 Colonial Ave., Pelham. 

La Takkarata folk group: 2:30 p.m. La Takkarata consists of dancers, singers and musicians. Unique instruments will combine to make traditional southern Italian music. A reception will follow the show. $15. 24 Depot Square, Tuckahoe. 

Sunday, Oct. 14

Book sale: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Friends of the Tuckahoe Public Library is raising money with a book sale. Tuckahoe Community Center, 71 Columbus Ave., Tuckahoe. 

Leaf jumping: 10:30 a.m. Visit the Greenburgh Nature Center for some leaf raking, piling and jumping. $5. 99 Dromore Road, Greenburgh.

Car show: 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Scarsdale Concours d’Elegance returns to Scarsdale for its ninth year. Admire classic American and European cars, with a final judging by an esteemed panel of automobile professionals. Scarsdale Village, 29 Chase Road, Scarsdale.

Sports writing lecture: 1 to 3 p.m. The Jewish Community Center of Mid-Westchester is hosting a lecture and book-signing featuring author Sharon Robinson, daughter of baseball legend Jackie Robinson, and Kostya Kennedy, a senior editor at Sports Illustrated. 999 Wilmot Road, Scarsdale.
