Additional proactive patrols will be assigned throughout Norwalk to help make Halloween a safe and happy holiday for everyone. These units will be focused on Halloween-related calls for service and drunk driving/motor vehicle enforcement.

Halloween can be a dangerous night if safety precautions are not in place. Statistics show that 44 percent of national fatal crashes during Halloween weekend involved a driver or motorcyclist with a Blood Alcohol Content of 0.08 or higher, and pedestrian fatalities involving children are about 4.5 times higher compared to other nights of the year. Tips for motorists include:

  • Use caution while behind the wheel
  • Slow down and be alert in residential areas
  • Enter and exit driveways and alleys carefully
  • Eliminate distractions so you can concentrate on the road and your surroundings
