Nancy Stewart Downes, 75, Of Greenwich, Worked For Braden Associates

GREENWICH, Conn. - Nancy Stewart Downes, a lifelong resident of Greenwich, died Friday, Sept. 5. She was 75.

Downes was born Feb. 10, 1939, to Ingvild (Ed) Olsen and Josephine Molinari Olsen. She graduated from Greenwich High School in 1957. Upon graduation, she worked at State National Bank. After her marriage, she worked in real estate for Braden Associates for many years. She also worked at Chrysler Capital, Aviation Capital and EF Hutton.

Downes is survived by her husband, Jeffrey Downes; son, David Stewart (Meg) of Greenwich; daughters, Pam Stewart Wurst (Chris) of Greenwich, Susan Stewart (Mike Cassidy) of Stamford; brother, Ed Olsen (Sue) of Okatie, S.C.; four grandchildren; step-daughter, Lisa Helfrich (Josh) of Coventry, R.I; a step-grandson; sister-in-law, Pat Oberbeck (Ed) of Greenwich; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her parents; first husband, James Jay Stewart; and grandson, William Stewart.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, Nov. 29, at First Congregational Church in Old Greenwich.

In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in Downes’ name to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research.
