The seat is currently held by Democrat Catherine Borgia.
Outhouse served for 23 years as a county police officer and 38 years as a volunteer firefighter and EMT in Cortlandt and Croton. Outhouse said Borgia is too partisan.
“I’m afraid that we’ve seen far too often with Catherine Borgia is that she will allow politics to dictate how she will act or vote on any given issue,” said Outhouse.
The community needs to be protected for when Indian Point closes in several years, Outhouse said. Outhouse has supported County Executive Rob Astorino's lawsuit against the state to conduct a State Environmental Quality Review before moving forward with the plant's closure.
Other priorities by Outhouse will be to protect taxpayers, help economic growth, public safety and combat the heroin epidemic.
“We have to put people before politics and we have to turn the volume down on the hyperpartisan yelling. Voters are tired of it and so am I and that’s why I’m running,” said Outhouse.
