Galef (D-Ossining), who was first elected to the Assembly in 1992, defeated Republican challenger Greg Purdy, a Kent resident, 16,913 votes to 9077 votes, according to unofficial results from the Westchester and Putnam County Board of Elections
The district includes Peekskill, Cortlandt, Croton-on-Hudson, Buchanan, Ossining, Briarcliff, Kent and Philipstown.
