Westchester Agrees To Proposed Contract With Police Labor Unions

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. - Pending approval by the Board of Legislators, Westchester County has reached an agreement with the labor unions that represent county police.

The tentative five-year deal with includes the Westchester County Department of Public Safety and the PBA Superior Superior Officers Unit. The proposed deal includes a salary bump for the county’s officers, detectives, sergeants, lieutenants and captains.

Both unions have been operating without contracts since last year. If approved by the Board of Legislators, it will extend through 2020.

According to officials, the deal for the Department of Public Safety includes an annual 2.5 percent salary increases for the period of time between 2015 and 2017. It also includes a 2.75 percent increase in 2019. A new voluntary overtime rate will also kick in beginning in 2018.

In addition to the salary increases, the proposed contract also includes increased funding for the county’s aviation and K-9 Units.

According to a lohud report , unions representing corrections officers, the Teamsters Union, District Attorney’s Investigators’ Bargaining Unit, NYS Nurses Association and CSEA have all been working without contracts for years.
