YORKTOWN HEIGHTS, N.Y. -- Yorktown police have charged an 18-year-old resident of Mahopac with criminal contempt, after he allegedly violated an order of protection.
An officer responded to the Jefferson Valley Mall to investigate a domestic incident on Monday, May 2, at approximately 6:45 p.m., police report.
The investigation revealed that the suspect, whose name is being withheld due to eligibility for youthful offender status, allegedly communicated with and harassed a party who was under an order of protection issued by the Patterson Town Court, according to officials.
The teen voluntarily appeared at Yorktown Police Department and was placed under arrest on Tuesday, May 3, at 11:15 p.m., police report.
He was charged with criminal contempt in the second degree, a class A misdemeanor, according to officials.
After processing, the teen was released on his own recognizance to a family member, police report.
He is scheduled to appear in Yorktown Justice Court Tuesday evening, according to officials.
